03/19/07 - "State of the Club"
The 2007 season is already underway for a few in the club and the rest of us will shortly join in the highly anticipated first club tournament, that I've dubbed "The Thriller at Truman". But before I get into that I wanted to acknowledge a couple of organizations we've formed new alliances with. The first is Celebrity Homes, a local home and community builder that has come on board as a key sponsor for this year. A sincere thank you goes out to this organization from all of us in the club. The second group that I felt it important to be associated with is the Anglers for Conservation. This new organization, founded by Josh Knudsen shares many of the same ideals we have related to conservation and community involvement. I'll speak for the membership and say that we'll do everything possible to assure our involvement with these two organizations results in a "win/win" situation.
Ok, back to Truman Lake. This part is going out to the club veterans. A few of us are familiar with this 56,000-acre impoundment however we'll have a few guys making the trip for the first time. Besides being lost for most of the trip, there's the inevitable; what kind of bait should I use, what did I forget, where's my rain gear and was that my life jacket that just few of out the boat type of questions. (New guys, please don't panic when you hear your boater whispering the above.) As we are all too aware, stuff happens. The important thing is work together, have a little fun, enjoy the time away from the rat race and catch a few fish.
Anyway, just a few updates and thoughts about the New Year and upcoming season, I hope everyone has a great year and remember to "be safe out there".
