River City Bass Club (RCBC)

"2016 State Champions"

We are a B.A.S.S. Nation (formerly BASS Federation Nation-see Nebraska's BASS Nation website) fishing club located in Omaha, Nebraska; serving the Metro area, including Council Bluffs, IA.

How to Join: Be at least 19 years old; be a current member of B.A.S.S.; and come see us at 7:30 PM on the third Monday of every month at Bass Pro Shop, in Council Bluffs, IA,  in Uncle
Buck's Grill, in the Lodge Room (back room of the restaurant).

The Club fiscal year is Oct - Sep; B.A.S.S. membership is required and dues are charged (our by-laws mandate dues are to be collected in the Oct meeting, for the next fiscal year).  The dues are used to enroll you into the BASS Nation roster, State roster, get you the BASS TIMES magazine, and funds the club's eight-man State Qualifier Team. Contact an officer or the webmaster via email to discuss club dues.  The Club also has an optional annual big bass challenge and all participants ante up a crisp $10 bill at the beginning of the fiscal year.  The heaviest bass caught during the tournament year earns a plaque and the big bass pot for the member who caught it!

One of our goals as a club is to improve our bass fishing skills through fellowship and a friendly exchange of angling ideas, tips and techniques.  A lot of the learning takes place on the water, and some takes place during the monthly meeting.

Another club goal is to further fishing as a sport within our community!  We support kid's events as well as community events.

We also really, really like to fish. The club has its own [no entry fee] bass tournaments every month (usually Mar thru Oct) where members compete to see who is the best in the club for that month; with the point totals going towards our own "angler of the year".  The club also sponsors a "Team Open" in the spring to raise funds for the State Team.

Generally, the club fishes in 100+ acre lakes in Iowa, NW Missouri, and NE Kansas for one day tournaments; and occassionally travels to central and southwest MO, and northeast OK for two day tournaments.  Lakes are chosen by our lake selection committee; dates are picked by a selection/voting process.

Lakes we frequent:

Iowa: Brushy Creek, Three and Twelve Mile, Viking, Icaria, West [Osceola], Anita, Little River; Missouri: Bilby Ranch, Mozingo, Harrison County, Paho; Kansas: Banner Creek.

Less frequent:

Nebraska lakes, Truman MO, Lake of the Ozarks, MO, Table Rock, MO, and Grand Lake of the Cherokees, OK.  Of course, we are open to any place wet that holds fish.

A small [$10] optional side pot is generally thrown together at each monthly tournament with the heaviest bass claiming half the pot, while the other half goes into the state tournament fund to offset lodging costs.

Another club goal is to place at least eight anglers on a team to represent RCBC at the annual Nebraska State Federation Qualifier Tournament.  (In 2014, RCBC was third in the State tournament out of 20+ teams.  In 2015, RCBC moved to second place!  In 2016, River City won the team competition out of 22 teams; making this club the best club in the State of Nebraska!!!!)  We use a point system at our club tournaments; and the top eight in points make the team.  The ultimate goal at the State Tournament is for the entire team to do well [win] and to get as many individuals as possible on the Federation's Regional team. The regional tournament feeds a National Championship, where the Federation Champion and the highest finisher from each region are invited to fish the BASSMASTER Classic!  The club runs at least one fund raiser tournament every year to grow funds for the state team!

New members (boat owners or not) are wanted! We'd love to talk to you about bass fishing and what our club is all about so, if you have questions or comments, please feel free to contact any one of our club officers to learn more about the club.

How to Join: The club meets at 7:30 PM on the third Monday of every month at Bass Pro Shops, in Uncle Buck's Lodge Room.
